THE DESIGN
This property is designed by the renowned local architect David Bohorquez who was inspired by the Plantation Houses of Curacao in look and feel. The layout consists of (1) a main single-story building connected to a second building incorporating the main bedroom complex, (2) a separate two-story annex consisting of a spacious guest bedroom suite equipped with a full bathroom and walk-in closet - and a study/bedroom with a balcony providing spectacular views and (3) a third building providing a two car garage, the utility room/additional bedroom, a guest bathroom and a large storage room. With regard to layout, finishing, and materials used, this Villa meets all the needs and demands of modern living.
The materials chosen all require minimal maintenance. The architect also took into account all the important factors for living in Curacao. The property is very well positioned with respect to the trade winds and sun trajectory making it feel pleasant (year-round) due to the (cross-) ventilation throughout. There is little direct sunlight entering the various rooms. All doors and windows are equipped with bug screens which also assist with ventilation.
LAYOUT
The living area consists of an open plan kitchen, living area, and dining-area and enjoys a so-called Cathedral Ceiling (=high ceiling) with several ceiling fans. Due to the height of the ceiling, the temperature in the living room is always pleasant. Via a great number of (aluminum-) sliding doors, the living area is directly connected with the spacious (covered-) front porch (=veranda) and beautiful back patio. The European kitchen is equipped with high-quality luxury appliances and the countertop is made of 'Caesar Stone. The bathrooms are likewise European and of high quality.
Attached to the main building is the master bedroom suite (consisting of a sleeping area, walk-in closet, and luxurious and spacious bathroom) plus a second bedroom/TV room/study equipped with an AC.
Separate from the main building is the functional annex:
• Ground floor: Spacious guest bedroom with a full bath and a convenient walk-in closet
• 2nd Floor: A functional study features a balcony with uninterrupted views of Spanish Water and the Tafelberg and Seru Boca mountains.
POOL
The infinity pool, adjacent to the front porch, is in excess of 11m in length and is therefore a perfect exercise amenity - and its pool lights provide a remarkable evening experience.
GARDEN
The garden is beautifully landscaped and features many tropical trees and plants.
OTHER
The property has an underground water cistern to which all roof gutters are connected. The cistern water is used for the pool and irrigation of the garden.
Hot water is provided by two roof-mounted solar water heaters.
All rooms are connected to fiber optic internet and television.
All roofs are fully insulated.
The property is particularly energy efficient enjoying low utility costs.
